WINNER 2025: Design - Residential: Wellington, Kapiti Coast

Central Glass & Aluminium for Bay Hill Project. Awarded by the Window and Glass Association of NZ.

Central Glass & Aluminium’s Bay Hill Project located in Island Bay, Wellington, took out the win for “Design – Residential: Wellington & Kapiti Coast” category, after impressing judges Juliana Wilson (Architect) and Rob Campion (Technical Manager).

Perched on the cliffs of Island Bay, the Bay Hill Project showcases the power of precision glazing to transform architecture. Full-height Low E Xtreme glass, thermally broken aluminium joinery, and frameless balustrades deliver uninterrupted views of Cook Strait while enhancing energy performance.

Custom shower screens, shaped mirrors, and elegant detailing create a sleek, modern interior. Despite extreme access challenges, including a tornado mid-installation, the team executed flawless installation with unwavering care.

From panoramic vistas to exacting craftsmanship, Bay Hill blends bold coastal design with functional beauty, making it a standout example of glass in contemporary residential architecture.

Central Glass & Aluminium made three submissions in the Window & Glass Design Awards for projects completed in the Bay of Plenty, Horowhenua and Wellington. All three projects were named as finalists, being recognised in the top three for each of these regions.

Central Glass & Aluminium was notably the only fabricator from the Manawatu-Rangitikei region, to be selected as a finalist in the nationwide awards.
